PRISM endeavors to advance the field of sepsis prediction, fostering improved patient outcomes and clinical decision-making. The involved team has strong expertise, each partner in its own research/industrial field, respectively, but the real strength of PRISM is the perfect matching of complementary skills to create a new tool that can impact in the real life and work of clinicians facing hospital infections. Indeed, while the use of ML tools in the study of sepsis is already reported in the literature at the level of research, their practical application in hospitals is not yet a reality. The PRISM originality resides in the combination of the most advanced skills and expertise in developing, training, and assessing ML tools, with the capability of managing and guaranteeing the security of the infrastructure to use the ML tools, and the possibility to rely on the clinicians’ experience. Clinicians involved in PRISM will be the first testers of the PRISM-web, and will in perspective constitute the core of a growing community of medical doctors using the platform to diagnose sepsis, at the same time contributing to the dataset and improving the quality of the prediction. The team and the project are multidisciplinary, a characteristic that is essential for studying, managing, using, and making effective the information contained in medical data, with a real and positive impact on medical care. The methodologies are state-of-the-art in the involved fields. PRISM will be successfully implemented and managed thanks to the many years of experience of the staff involved in collaborative grant management. Consequently, a precise organization of the project activities was planned in terms of skills, human resources, computational resources, and timing.
