FAQ
Apps built for the Youbiquo devices, will be tested on the Leonardo XR, Youbiquo's XR headset. The device is powered by the Qualcomm XR2, runs Android 12, has 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 3200x1600 resolution, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and includes two 6DOF controllers.
The Leonardo XR is an all-in-one headset with pancake lenses, adjustable IPD from 59 to 68 mm, 0–500° diopter adjustment, a 5500 mAh battery, and Android 12 operating system. For developers, this means working on a standalone XR mobile target, not a headset that depends on a PC to run the final app.
For the Youbiquo category, applications must be compatible with the Leonardo XR headset and installable on the device in APK format, emphasizing a standalone Android/XR experience. To ensure a valid submission and eligibility for potential publication in the store, the app must successfully install and run on the target device while meeting the specified minimum requirements.
Applications and digital content focused on professional and educational use cases are eligible, particularly within industrial and academic contexts. These include digital twins, immersive training, operational simulations, onboarding experiences, immersive classrooms, virtual laboratories, guided procedures, safety training, maintenance, and remote support.
Applications built only for entertainment (i.e., games without educational or professional purpose) are not permitted. Applications containing unlicensed content, assets, datasets, or libraries—or those with licenses incompatible with store distribution—are also ineligible. Additionally, apps that cannot be installed on or are not compatible with the Leonardo XR device due to technical limitations will not be accepted.
You must use it, but it's not mandatory to use the features defined within the LeonardoXR SDK. Our features are very specific and may not fit your use case.
Installation is done by uploading the .apk file to the Resources → Local → APKs folder on the headset via a USB-C connection to the PC. From the headset, open the Resources menu and follow the path Local → APKs → AppName.apk → Install. Once installed, the app appears in the MyApp section.
Link to documentation
For the Youbiquo category, minimum delivery requirements include: link to the repository, executable demo build or minimal instructions for execution, project sheet with title, description, category and screenshots or demo video if requested, declaration of third-party libraries/assets/datasets and their licenses, as well as a declaration of originality and absence of malware/backdoors.
In the guidelines, "store-ready" indicates a project mature enough to be submitted as a product: stability, absence of blocking bugs, completeness of the main flows, quality and consistency of content, presence of a name/description/instructions, correct management of permissions and dependencies, compliance with basic privacy and security requirements, where applicable. This criteria also weighs in the final evaluation.
Yes, but only if they are original or covered by valid licenses compatible with distribution in the store. It is mandatory to fully declare libraries, assets, datasets, tools, and their licenses. Otherwise, the project may be excluded or not published.
Yes, but with specific limits. The rules stipulate that the percentage of pre-existing content, excluding 2D/3D assets, must not exceed 30% of the project. Furthermore, the first commit of the repository must contain all pre-existing material the team intends to use, and any software add-ons must be declared at least in an addons.txt file.
Yes, the rules recommend moderate use of AI coding tools to allow for proper evaluation of the team's contribution. Furthermore, entering personal data or confidential information in public prompts is prohibited.
Yes. The regulation specifies that the generation of 2D/3D assets is not subject to any particular restrictions, provided that applicable usage rights and licenses are respected.
Yes. For the Youbiquo category, the intellectual property rights for the app, code, and materials remain with the team or rights holder. However, participation grants Youbiquo a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the app on the Youbiquo App Store and to use project materials for communication and promotional purposes.No. The rules clarify that Youbiquo may consider including the project in the store, but may also not publish it or remove it for technical, legal, security, reputational reasons, or for failure to meet the minimum requirements.
For potential publication, the project must be compatible with Leonardo XR, use the LeonardoXR SDK, have an installable or executable build, minimal documentation, complete dependencies/licenses declaration, absence of malware or harmful features, and a level of completeness consistent with the “store-ready” criterion.
Yes, but it must have the company's authorization. The rules require the participant to declare that the company is aware of the participation and the potential publication of the app in the store, and that there are no restrictions preventing the granting of the minimum license to Youbiquo. Without this authorization, the organization may disqualify the application or request additional information.
Individual registrations are allowed, but will be handled separately and may be combined with teams undergoing selection or reorganization. In general, teams must consist of 2 to 5 people.
Yes. The regulations require a minimum attendance on both days of the Hackathon. Any special needs must be communicated to the organizers in advance.
The submission must be submitted by the deadline set for April 17, 2026, at 6:00 PM, unless final confirmation is communicated during the competition.
Projects are evaluated on a 70-point scale, taking into account: scene design, interactivity and technical expertise, creativity, user experience, user engagement, challenge adherence and business value, and store-ready completeness. In the event of a tie, the store-ready score takes precedence, followed by challenge adherence/business value.
Yes, the Leonardo XR public documentation also includes a guide to streaming to a PC using scrcpy, both via USB and Wi-Fi, which is useful for demos, debugging, or presentations.
The team is responsible. The rules explicitly require a declaration of absence of malware, backdoors, or hidden features and allow Youbiquo to conduct technical and security checks, rejecting publication in the store if any critical issues are identified.
It is strongly recommended to have already installed Unity and LeonardoXR SDK in order not to waste time during the two days of the HACKATON
