4 February 2021On February 2 and 5, 2021, the 5G-EPICENTRE project ‘ExPerimentation Infrastructure hosting Cloud-nativE Netapps for public proTection and disaster Relief’ held its online kick-off meeting. This new Research & Innovation Action, funded by the European Commission’s programme HORIZON 2020, is coordinated by AIRBUS DS SLC, a telecommunications company part of the AIRBUS family, a multinational aerospace corporation.
The meeting brought together 17 partners from 14 European countries. The project consortium is formed by a well-balanced group of research organizations, industrial players, SMEs and end-users active in the project and who will be actively involved in the user evaluation and validation activities.
5G is considered to be the next decade mainstream broadband wireless technology and can leverage the efficiency and effectiveness of everyday high demanding operations such as Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR).
5G-EPICENTRE will deliver an open end-to-end experimentation 5G platform focusing on software solutions that serve the needs of PPDR.
The engaged SMEs and organizations that will participate into the realization of the use cases constitute active players in the public security and disaster management, thus acting as key enablers for the assessment of 5G-EPICENTRE with regard to the real needs that should be addressed.
Youbiquo is honored and proud to be the partner that providing customized AR wearable technology to support the pilot experiments based on the use cases addressed within the project.
Youbiquo’s role in the project is to:
- Experiments strategy and planning;
- Experiments data visualization and interaction;
- Experiments validation;
- Market analysis and sustainable business models;
- Business plan and exploitation plan.

5G-EPICENTRE is a 3 years project that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme. It will conclude in December 2023.
